US House Control Hangs On Key Races

As of Friday, control of the U.S. House of Representatives remains undecided, with neither party yet reaching the required 218 seats. The Associated Press reports Democrats at 199 seats after gaining eight since Thursday, while Republicans hold 211 after gaining five. With 25 races still uncalled, House Democrats are strategizing for a closely divided chamber, even as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries maintains that Democrats could still secure a majority, pointing to races in California, Oregon, and Arizona as potential pickups.

Meanwhile, Democrats face a broader setback as Republicans secure a substantial Senate majority, now leading 53 to 45, and gain the White House with President-elect Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. The Republican wins position the party for a potential “Red Wave,” gaining unified control of the presidency and Congress.
