Sirens Sound in Bahrain Amid Regional Escalation
BAHRAIN:
Bahraini authorities urged residents to move to the nearest safe locations after air raid sirens sounded for the sixth time on Saturday amid growing tensions in the region.
Government Advisory
The Interior Ministry posted on social media, “The siren has been sounded. Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place.” Officials emphasized that the alert aims to protect civilians amid heightened security risks.
Regional Context
The sirens come as the United States and Israel continue airstrikes on Iran, which began on Feb. 28 and have killed over 1,340 people. In response, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting U.S. military bases. These strikes have caused casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
