Israel Shuts Gaza Crossings and Suspends Aid After Iranian Missile Attack
Israel has announced the closure of all entry points into the Gaza Strip and suspended humanitarian aid deliveries following a recent Iranian missile attack, according to Israeli authorities.
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), a unit under Israel’s Defense Ministry, confirmed that several security measures were implemented in response to the ballistic missile strike. These measures include shutting down all crossings into Gaza, notably Kerem Shalom and Rafah, until further notice.
Israeli officials stated that the decision was taken as part of broader security precautions after the escalation of regional hostilities. Authorities also claimed that the suspension would not significantly impact humanitarian conditions, arguing that food supplies delivered during the ceasefire period had already exceeded nutritional requirements based on international standards.
However, Palestinian authorities and international aid organizations have repeatedly warned that the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with growing concerns over shortages of food, medical supplies and essential relief materials.
Officials in Gaza have also accused Israel of failing to fully comply with ceasefire commitments, including the agreed entry of humanitarian assistance, reconstruction materials and medical equipment needed for recovery efforts.
The situation remains highly sensitive amid ongoing conflict dynamics in the region. Palestinian sources report that thousands have been killed or injured since the escalation began in October 2023, with civilians forming the majority of casualties.
Although a ceasefire agreement was reached in October 2025 between Israel and Hamas, sporadic violence has continued, further complicating humanitarian access and reconstruction efforts in the territory.
The latest closure of Gaza crossings is expected to intensify international concern over the humanitarian crisis, as aid organizations warn of worsening living conditions for residents already facing severe shortages and displacement.
As tensions continue to rise following the Iranian missile attack, the broader regional situation remains volatile, with significant implications for both security and humanitarian stability.
