Pashinyan Party Leads Early Armenia Vote Count

Pashinyan’s Civil Contract Party Takes Early Lead in Armenia Parliamentary Election

Preliminary results from Armenia’s parliamentary election indicate that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s ruling Civil Contract party is leading the race, according to figures released shortly after polls closed.

Data from the Central Election Commission (CEC), reported by state news agency Armenpress, shows that Civil Contract secured 57.14% of the vote based on ballots counted from 110 of the country’s 2,005 polling stations.

The early count places the party well ahead of its competitors. The Strong Armenia bloc, led by billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, is currently in second place with 21.4% of the vote, while the Armenia Alliance, headed by former President Robert Kocharyan, holds 8.2%.

Voting in the parliamentary election concluded at 8 p.m. local time, corresponding to 1600 GMT, across Armenia’s nationwide network of polling stations. The election determines the composition of the 101-seat National Assembly.

The Central Election Commission also reported that voter turnout reached approximately 58.97%, with nearly 1.5 million citizens casting ballots out of around 2.5 million registered voters.

A total of sixteen political parties and two alliances participated in the election, reflecting a competitive political landscape.

The Civil Contract party entered the election cycle holding 69 seats following the 2021 snap parliamentary vote. Early trends suggest the ruling party may maintain a strong position as more results continue to be processed.

Final results are expected once all polling stations have been fully counted, which will determine the overall balance of power in Armenia’s next parliament.
