Modi Unveils Fast-Track Courts as Exam Paper Leak Protests Intensify Across India
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the creation of fast-track courts to expedite trials in exam paper leak cases, as nationwide protests over alleged failures in the country’s examination system continue to gain momentum.
In a statement shared on social media, Modi said protecting the future of India’s youth remains a top priority and pledged swift legal action against those responsible for compromising the integrity of public examinations.
The announcement comes amid widespread demonstrations that began in New Delhi and have expanded to several major cities, including Mumbai. Protesters are demanding accountability over repeated examination paper leaks and are calling for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Authorities in the capital have tightened security as demonstrations continue. Delhi Metro officials temporarily closed 16 metro stations to manage the situation, while clashes between protesters and security personnel were reported near Jantar Mantar, a well-known protest site in the city.
The demonstrations are being led by the Cockroach Janata Party, a recently formed political movement that gained significant public attention following controversial remarks attributed to Chief Justice Surya Kant regarding unemployed youth.
Prime Minister Modi stated that government agencies have been instructed to take all necessary steps to prevent future paper leaks and ensure that those responsible face strict legal consequences. He emphasized that individuals attempting to undermine students’ futures would not be spared.
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the government’s handling of the education system, arguing that broader reforms are needed to restore public confidence. He reiterated calls for accountability and accused the administration of failing to prevent recurring examination controversies.
With protests continuing in several cities, the issue has become a major political challenge, placing increased focus on education reforms, examination security, and public trust in India’s recruitment and testing systems.
