EU and Pakistan Advocate Continued Diplomacy to Reduce U.S.-Iran Tensions
The European Union and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to diplomacy and dialogue as the preferred path toward easing tensions between the United States and Iran, emphasizing the need for peaceful solutions to preserve regional and global stability.
The message came during a meeting between EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, both leaders stressed that sustained diplomatic engagement remains the most effective way to address the evolving security situation in the Middle East. They agreed that continued dialogue is essential to reducing tensions and preventing further escalation in the region.
The discussions also focused on the wider consequences of the conflict, including its impact on regional security, global energy markets, maritime navigation, international trade, and supply chains. Both sides underscored the importance of respecting international law while working collectively to maintain peace and stability.
In addition to regional security, Kallas and Dar reviewed progress under the Pakistan-EU Strategic Engagement Plan, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening political and economic cooperation.
Dar also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to implementing international conventions linked to the GSP+ trade framework, highlighting the importance of the European Union as one of Pakistan’s key economic and trading partners.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by both Islamabad and Brussels to support diplomatic solutions to international crises while deepening bilateral cooperation across political, economic, and strategic sectors.
