Poland to Host Patriot Missile Maintenance Facility

US Selects Poland for European Patriot Missile Maintenance Facility

The United States has chosen Poland to host a new maintenance centre for Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile systems in Europe. The project aims to enhance NATO’s air and missile defence capabilities while improving military readiness along the alliance’s eastern border.

The Pentagon announced the decision on Tuesday on the sidelines of a meeting of NATO’s Conference of National Armaments Directors. The initiative will involve cooperation between the US government, defence manufacturer Lockheed Martin and European partner countries.

Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden will oversee the integration of key supply chains supporting the facility. According to the Pentagon, the centre will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services for PAC-3 missiles across Europe, helping ensure the systems remain operational and ready for deployment.

Michael Duffey, the US under secretary of defence for acquisition and sustainment, said the project demonstrated the alliance’s commitment to collective security and deterrence. He noted that NATO members were dedicating national resources to strengthen defence capabilities along the alliance’s eastern front.

The Pentagon added that the initiative supports defence-industrial commitments agreed upon at the NATO summit in Ankara in July under the framework known as “NATO 3.0.” The broader objective is to enable European allies to take greater responsibility for conventional defence while maintaining strong cooperation with the United States.
