Blinken, France Discuss Ukraine Aid

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a phone call with French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot on Thursday to discuss efforts to end the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as ongoing support for Ukraine.

They reaffirmed their commitment to providing sustained aid to Ukraine, supporting its defense and pursuit of victory. The call occurred as reports suggested the Biden administration plans to allocate a final $6 billion in security aid to Ukraine before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, fearing that the flow of weapons might stop afterward.

Additionally, Blinken and Barrot emphasized the need for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict in Lebanon to ensure the safe return of civilians on both sides of the Blue Line. They also highlighted the urgency of ending the war in Gaza, securing the release of all hostages, and increasing humanitarian aid.
