Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred early Sunday at a Motel 6 in Prospect Heights.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at approximately 2:02 a.m. at the motel located at 540 N. Milwaukee Ave. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim with a stab wound. Despite efforts by first responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to an initial investigation, the stabbing appears to have stemmed from an argument involving several individuals.
Authorities have detained a suspect who is reportedly cooperating with the investigation. The Prospect Heights Police Department is working on the case with the assistance of the Major Case Assistance Team.
