Four Palestinians Injured in Southern Gaza as Ceasefire Violations Continue
Four Palestinians, including two children, were injured after Israeli military fire struck the Al-Mawasi area south of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip on Thursday, according to local medical officials.
Medical sources said the injured included a one-year-old girl after gunfire from Israeli military vehicles reportedly hit tents sheltering displaced families in the Al-Burj camp within the Bir 19 area. The victims were transported for medical treatment, while conditions in the area remained tense.
Local officials stated that Al-Mawasi has witnessed repeated exchanges of fire in recent days, with displaced civilians living in temporary shelters facing ongoing security risks. The latest incident comes despite a ceasefire that has officially remained in effect since October 2025.
In a separate development, Israeli artillery reportedly shelled areas east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, while naval forces opened fire toward the Gaza City port area. No casualties were immediately reported from those incidents.
Gaza health authorities say hundreds of people have been killed or injured in incidents they describe as ceasefire violations since the truce came into force. The broader conflict has caused extensive humanitarian suffering, large-scale displacement, and widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure across the Gaza Strip.
The renewed violence underscores the fragile nature of the ceasefire and highlights continuing international concerns over civilian safety and the prospects for a lasting peace in the region.
