U.S. House Passes $95 Billion Republican Budget Package Supporting Iran War Effort
The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives has narrowly approved a $95 billion budget package that includes funding for the ongoing conflict with Iran, financial assistance for American farmers, and key elements of President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda.
The measure passed by a 216-214 vote, with nearly all lawmakers voting along party lines. Every Democrat opposed the proposal, joined by Republican Representatives Thomas Massie and Warren Davidson, as well as Independent Kevin Kiley, who caucuses with Republicans.
The legislation now moves to the U.S. Senate, where its future remains uncertain. Several Republican senators have expressed reservations about authorizing additional funding for military operations against Iran and have questioned whether election-related provisions included in the bill comply with Senate reconciliation rules.
The budget proposal follows the Trump administration’s request for supplemental funding as military operations involving Iran continue. According to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, the conflict has already cost the United States an estimated $37.5 billion, underscoring the growing financial impact of the prolonged campaign.
The Senate’s deliberations are expected to determine whether the funding package advances in its current form or undergoes significant revisions before any final approval.
