Palestinian Christian Regains Family Land After Court Ruling
Bethlehem and al-Makhrour, West Bank – This Christmas season is particularly meaningful for Alice Kisiya, a Palestinian Christian activist from Beit Jala.
For the first time since 2019, Kisiya returned to her family’s land in the Christian village of al-Makhrour. An Israeli court ruling in June ordered settlers to leave the land and dismantle an illegal outpost, allowing her to reclaim it.
“This victory, which forced the settlers to dismantle their outpost for good, shows that one must never give up, despite all the pressures on me and my family to leave the land,” Kisiya told Al Jazeera.
The court decision represents a significant win for Palestinian residents facing encroachment from Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank. It highlights the legal avenues available to challenge illegal settlement activity and reaffirms the rights of landowners in contested areas.
