Khamenei Warns US as Israel Strikes Security Headquarters in Tehran
June 18, 2025 — Tehran | Jerusalem | Washington, D.C.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday declared that Iran would never surrender and warned the United States of “irreparable damage” if it intervenes in the ongoing conflict. His remarks came as Israel announced the destruction of Iran’s internal security headquarters in Tehran.
“The Iranian nation will never surrender,” Khamenei stated during a public address on the sixth day of hostilities. He dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s demand for Iran’s “unconditional surrender” as “unacceptable.”
Khamenei, who has led Iran since 1989 and holds ultimate authority over state affairs, also vowed to show “no mercy” toward Israel’s leadership.
The current round of conflict began Friday, when Israel launched a wide-scale bombing campaign targeting Iran’s military infrastructure. In response, Iran fired a barrage of missiles and deployed armed drones, escalating regional tensions.
On Wednesday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that Israeli Air Force jets had destroyed Iran’s internal security headquarters in Tehran, describing it as “the main arm of repression” for the regime.
“We have struck the internal security headquarters of the Iranian regime,” Katz said. “We will continue to target symbols of power and hit the Ayatollah regime wherever necessary.”
Meanwhile, President Trump said he has not yet decided whether the U.S. will join Israeli military operations but emphasized that Iran is under pressure. “They want to negotiate,” he said, though he noted it may be “very late” for talks.
