OIC Voices Support for Türkiye After Iranian Missile Incident

OIC Condemns Missile Threat

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemned the launch of a ballistic missile from Iran toward the airspace of Türkiye. Allied defense systems later intercepted and neutralized the projectile.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the organization expressed full solidarity with Türkiye. It also reaffirmed its strong support for protecting the country’s sovereignty, security, and stability.

Call for De-escalation

Furthermore, the OIC General Secretariat urged all sides to immediately halt actions that could increase tensions in the region. The organization warned that threats against member states undermine the foundations of international relations, which rely on good neighborly ties and mutual respect.

Missile Intercepted by Allied Defenses

According to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, defense systems detected the missile after it passed through the airspace of Iraq and Syria. Allied forces, including units from NATO, successfully intercepted the projectile before it could cause damage.

Debris from the missile later fell in the Dörtyol district of Hatay Province in southern Türkiye. Authorities confirmed that the incident caused no casualties or injuries.

Diplomatic Response From Türkiye

Following the incident, the Turkish government summoned Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh to the Foreign Ministry. During the meeting, officials delivered a formal protest and expressed serious concern over the missile launch.

Turkish authorities also stressed that any action capable of expanding the conflict or destabilizing the region must be avoided.
