Trump Warns Iran of Stronger Response if Strait of Hormuz Is Disrupted
WASHINGTON:
Donald Trump warned Iran on Monday that the United States would respond with far greater force if Tehran attempted to block oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy routes.
Speaking on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said any effort by Iran to halt the movement of oil tankers through the strait would trigger a response “twenty times harder” than previous US strikes.
Warning Over Oil Route
Trump stated that the United States would take decisive action if Iran interfered with the passage of oil through the strategic waterway. According to him, Washington would target locations inside Iran that he described as “easily destroyable.”
He also warned that such strikes could severely damage Iran’s ability to rebuild its infrastructure.
“Death, fire and fury will reign upon them,” Trump wrote. However, he added that he hopes such a confrontation can be avoided.
Message Linked to Global Trade
Furthermore, Trump presented the warning as a move to protect international trade and energy supplies. The United States president said the message also benefits countries that depend heavily on oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
He specifically mentioned China and other nations that rely on the route for energy imports.
According to Trump, ensuring that oil continues to flow freely through the strait would support global economic stability. He described the warning as a gesture meant to safeguard the interests of countries that depend on this critical maritime corridor.
