President-elect Donald Trump has announced his Cabinet nominees for his second term, including several controversial choices that may face opposition during Senate confirmations. Some nominees include former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi for Attorney General, Scott Bessent as Secretary of the Treasury, and Russell Vought as Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
These nominees, who are all Trump allies, will lead major federal agencies, oversee billions of dollars in funding, and advise the president on important issues. Senate confirmation hearings will be required for many of these positions.
Additional appointees include Dr. Janette Nesheiwat as Surgeon General, Lori Chavez-DeRemer as Secretary of Labor, and Scott Turner as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Some other notable nominees include Howard Lutnick for Secretary of Commerce, Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense, and Linda McMahon for Secretary of Education.
Other appointments include less politically sensitive roles and those that don’t require Senate confirmation, like Alex Wong as deputy national security adviser and Sebastian Gorka as senior director for counterterrorism.
