Walter LaSota, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, honors fallen comrades alongside his daughter, Cynthia LaSota, by placing flowers on the monument plaque at Sugar Loaf Hill in Okinawa, Japan, on April 1, 2025. A two-time Purple Heart recipient, LaSota made the journey back through the Eagle Society program, which supports WWII veterans in revisiting historic battle sites.
