BJP Blames US State Department for Targeting India

In a bold move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has directly accused the US State Department of attempting to destabilize India and targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During a press conference, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that the US “deep state” has been colluding with opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and certain media outlets to undermine the government with baseless allegations.

Patra pointed to the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which has focused on the Adani Group’s alleged ties with the government. He suggested that this was part of a broader strategy, citing a French media report revealing that OCCRP receives significant funding from the US State Department and other influential figures, including billionaire George Soros.

The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of being complicit in this alleged conspiracy, calling him a “traitor of the highest order.” Patra also suggested that Gandhi’s meetings with Soros and American lawmakers critical of Modi were evidence of foreign influence working against India’s interests.

In response, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor condemned the BJP’s accusations, calling them defamatory and demanding an apology. He emphasized that such attacks violated parliamentary privileges.

While OCCRP acknowledged some funding from the US government, it firmly stated that it operates independently, with no editorial influence from any political party or government.
