Woman Killed in Rocket Attack on Northern Israel
ISTANBUL — March 24, 2026
A woman was killed in northern Israel after rockets were fired from Lebanon, as air raid sirens sounded across the Galilee region on Tuesday.
Sirens Triggered Across Galilee
Local media reported that warning sirens activated in several areas, including Upper Galilee towns such as Hulata and Yesud HaMa’ala. Alerts also spread across the Galilee Panhandle, with warnings issued in Margaaliot, Kiryat Shmona, and nearby communities.
As a result, residents rushed to seek shelter while emergency services responded to the situation.
Casualties Confirmed
Israel’s national emergency service confirmed that a woman suffered critical injuries during the attack and later died. In addition, two other individuals sustained minor injuries.
Reports indicate that around 30 projectiles were launched toward the Upper Galilee. Most of them landed in open areas, limiting further damage.
Ongoing Cross-Border Escalation
Meanwhile, tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border continue to rise. Since early March, Hezbollah has launched repeated rocket attacks into Israeli territory.
In response, Israel has carried out extensive airstrikes in Lebanon and initiated ground operations in the southern region.
Broader Regional Conflict
Lebanese officials report that Israeli strikes have killed at least 1,039 people and injured 2,876 since March 2.
This escalation forms part of a wider regional conflict. Since February 28, a joint US-Israeli military campaign in Iran has resulted in more than 1,340 deaths.
In retaliation, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as countries hosting US military assets, including Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf states.
