The Cook County Assessor’s Office has started its scheduled reassessments for the north suburbs, beginning with Norwood Park Township. Property owners in Norridge, Harwood Heights, Park Ridge, and unincorporated areas received reassessment notices on March 24.
Homeowners should review their notices to ensure the listed property details and market values are accurate. Assessments are based on market trends from the past three years.
Appeals & Workshops
Owners can appeal if property details are incorrect or if the estimated market value is higher than its real selling price. The deadline for Norwood Park Township appeals is May 5.
To assist homeowners, the Assessor’s Office will host virtual workshops on April 9 (English) and April 10 (Spanish) on Facebook and YouTube.
Understanding Valuation Reports
After reassessment, a valuation report is released, detailing property trends for residential, commercial, and multi-family buildings. Homeowners can compare their values with neighborhood medians. Reports are available at cookcountyassessor.com/valuation-reports.
