Global Leaders Divided Over U.S. Strike in Venezuela

World Reacts to U.S. Capture of Venezuela’s President

Global Leaders React to U.S. Military Action in Venezuela

World leaders have responded with sharply divided views following the United States’ military operation in Venezuela that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro.

The reactions ranged from strong condemnation to cautious approval, reflecting deep international divisions over the use of force and foreign intervention.

U.S. Forces Capture Maduro After Major Strike

On Saturday, U.S. forces carried out a large-scale strike in Venezuela and detained Maduro and his wife. The operation removed them from the country and transferred them to the United States.

U.S. authorities have indicted the couple on drug-related charges in New York, according to official statements.

UK Signals Support for End of Maduro Rule

In an early response, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said his government would “shed no tears” over the collapse of Maduro’s rule. His remarks suggested support for political change in Venezuela, though he did not directly endorse the U.S. military action.

Latin America Condemns U.S. Intervention

Meanwhile, several Latin American nations criticized the U.S. move. Regional leaders warned that the operation violated national sovereignty and could destabilize the region.

They called for dialogue and international cooperation rather than military force.

Russia and China Strongly Oppose the Attack

Venezuela’s long-standing allies, Russia and China, also condemned the operation. China said it was “deeply shocked” and strongly criticized the use of force against a sovereign nation and its elected leader.

Both countries urged respect for international law and warned against further escalation.
