Palestinian Authority Suspends Al Jazeera Over Incitement

Palestinian Authority Suspends Al Jazeera in West Bank Over 'Incitement' Claims

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has temporarily suspended Al Jazeera’s broadcasts in the occupied West Bank, accusing the network of airing “inciting material” that could foster division. This follows criticisms from Fatah over Al Jazeera’s coverage of clashes in Jenin between Palestinian forces and militant groups. The PA claims the network’s reports were misleading and harmful to Palestinian unity.

Al Jazeera condemned the suspension, calling it an attack on press freedom and an effort to suppress its coverage of the West Bank. The network vowed to continue reporting despite the ban. The suspension does not affect Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas.

The move escalates tensions between the PA and Al Jazeera, particularly in light of growing dissatisfaction with the PA’s security actions in Jenin, which some critics view as collaboration with Israeli forces.
