Bondi Blames Politically Biased Judges for Sudden Court-Ordered Replacement

WASHINGTON — A federal judge replaced Alina Habba, a Trump-appointed interim US Attorney for New Jersey, igniting backlash from Attorney General Pam Bondi. On Tuesday, Chief Judge Renee Marie Bumb named First Assistant US Attorney Desiree Leigh Grace as her successor. Habba’s term began on March 24 and lasted less than four months. Bondi posted on X, claiming politically motivated judges blocked Habba from continuing in the role. She added that the Justice Department “won’t tolerate rogue judges,” especially when presidential authority is at risk. Previously, Habba served as Trump’s personal lawyer and was nominated for the role permanently. However, the Senate Judiciary Committee has not advanced her confirmation. The incident sparked concerns over judicial impartiality and escalated tensions around Trump-era appointments.
