Wang Promises Military Support for Africa

China Pledges Full Support, Military Aid for Africa During Wang Yi’s Visit

During his final stop on a week-long tour across Africa, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured the continent of China’s unwavering support, including military aid, as he wrapped up discussions in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.

Starting his tour on January 6, Wang visited Namibia, the Republic of Congo, and Chad before meeting with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar. The talks focused on deepening China-Africa relations and China’s commitment to backing the continent’s growth and security.

Wang emphasized China’s solidarity with Africa, stating, “China will firmly support Africans in resolving African challenges in their own way. Africans are the true masters of their continent.”

This pledge reflects China’s ongoing strategy to strengthen ties with African nations, focusing on economic, military, and diplomatic cooperation. By offering military assistance, China aims to bolster Africa’s ability to manage regional conflicts and security issues independently, contributing to long-term stability.

Wang’s visit underscores the growing partnership between China and Africa, with an emphasis on respecting African sovereignty and promoting collaborative solutions to the continent’s challenges. The move is likely to further enhance China’s influence across Africa, a region with significant strategic and economic importance.
