Turkey Criticizes Ukrainian Drone Strikes in Black Sea
Turkey has strongly criticized Ukraine for launching drone strikes on two Russian “shadow fleet” oil tankers in the Black Sea. The government said the incident created serious risks in waters that fall inside Turkey’s exclusive economic zone.
Concerns Over Safety and Environmental Risks
Foreign Ministry spokesman Oncu Keceli stated that the strikes on the vessels Kairos and Virat threatened the safety of navigation, human life, property, and the surrounding environment. He emphasized that such actions increase instability in an already tense region.
Turkey Engages in Diplomatic Efforts
Keceli added in a late Saturday social media post that Turkey is holding discussions with all relevant parties. He said the goal is to prevent the conflict in Ukraine from spreading further across the Black Sea and to safeguard Turkey’s economic interests.
